Preserving Harvest

Colonel's Blog, Earthdate 28 July 2023...

Hey Y'all!

Good evening and Happy Fast-Jet Friday!! The pic today is the Mighty-Mighty F-15E flying low in Wales. It is tail # 98-0135 which was my jet the second time I was in the 492d Fighter Squadron. The other pics are Stella looking like a cow, the pigs enjoying a meal, and a portion of our tomato harvest today. The animals are doing really well. We moved the beef cows to a new pasture which will hold them for the next few days. They were excited to move and I put up a new YouTube video of the set-up and move. Makaylah and I spent an hour or so picking the garden. We got loads of tomatoes, greens, broccoli, a few green beans, a few Thai peppers, and a few cucumbers. Over the past few weeks, we have canned the equivalent of 56 quarts of pickles. Shelley says we are done with pickles this year and we won't plant any cucumbers next year. Any additional cucumbers we get this year will be eaten fresh or fed to the animals. We also canned about 25 quarts of tomatoes. I've got a large pot of greens and broccoli on the stove with some of our ham hocks. We'll eat a bit of it and freeze the rest. We're excited for the market tomorrow and hopefully lots of folks will brave the heat to stop by.
