Colonel’s Blog, Earthdate 3 May 2024…

Hey Y’all!

Good evening and happy Fast-Jet Friday from Air2Ground Farms! The fast jet today is the Mighty-Mighty F-15E Strike Eagle departing a tanker over the desert of the Middle East this week. Yes, our men and women are still over there doing our Nation’s business. The weather is cloudy and cool but thankfully no more flooding rain. We will continue to have a few showers over the next few days, which is great! The farm animals are all doing very well. The 4th batch of beef chickens showed up yesterday. Position update: Batch 1-Pasture with 2 weeks to processing; Batch 2-Pasture with 4 weeks to processing; Batch 3-Big Brooder with 1 week to move to pasture; Batch 4-Small Brooder with 1 week to move to big brooder. All batches are doing very well and all are growing like crazy. The lambs are good and also growing quickly. We had another single and a set of twins since the last blog. That brings our total to over 60! The beef herd is doing well, as are the 4 new calves. The dairy herd is also good with Mary, Happy’s calf, growing and doing well. The layers are laying like crazy! The middle 3 pics are the 3 guilts that we kept for breeding. We will give them names and will have to learn each of their faces so we can tell them apart. Can you tell the difference? The top pic is at a 10 acre pasture my parents purchased recently. We have to build about 1,000 feet of barbed wire fence and then we plan to move some of our yearling steers over to that pasture to finish over the summer before processing in the fall. The pic is of us running a string along the planned fence line so we could clear trees and brush. We have the path cleared and the fencing materials in place. Now we just have to go get’er done!

With all of the BIG news recently, I am hesitant to hit you with another “BIG NEWS” headline, but I think it is fitting. This week, we started a new business! As of 1 May 2024, Air2Ground Meats is a Limited Liability Company in the state of Missouri. With the addition of a storefront, we decided that a new business was the way to go moving forward. Our plan for the business is that A2G Meats will purchase live animals from A2G Farms. A2G Meats will then process, market, and retail the product. The distinction will allow A2G Farms to focus on animals and production while A2G Meats will focus on marketing and sales. Our good friend, Tim, commented that we needed to clone ourselves. The closest I could get was to clone and then separate duties for the business! We have the company organized, the IRS Employer Identification Number, and the Missouri Tax paperwork done. We now need to get the Ava City Business License and figure out the insurances. We believe the additional work right now will pay off in the long run. So…If you start to see stuff about Air2Ground Meats…it’s us!

Thursday’s Dust’er Mud Podcast was about local foods and highlighted our new market setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phY1a5qKRP8&list=UULFNqaipbTwMJVyld1tmsaCkA&index=1&pp=gAQBiAQB

Fortunately those piggies are distinctive!

Hopefully you don't plan to name the Beef Chickens!
