Colonel's Blog, Earthdate 27 March 2023...
Hey Y'all!
Good morning, happy Monday!! It was frosty this morning making us glad we haven't put the plant starts in the garden yet. Hopefully in a few days we will be able to get them into the ground. The bottom pic is Shelley in one of my flight suits. We're still trying to figure out how to dress to milk the cows now that the weather is getting a bit warmer and I mentioned that I thought I would maybe wear a flight suit over shorts. Well, she beat me to it and I had to get a pic. She approves of the comfort of the flight suit, which I obviously understand as I wore it for almost 25 years! The top two pics are Shelley with the beef cows. The animals are all very good today. We moved the guardian dogs around yesterday. It was time to get the girls and boys separated for obvious reasons. One of our original females had puppies about 8 months ago, right about the time the economy really started contracting and we ended up not being able to sell or even give them all away. So, we have a few more than we would like. The girls are now around the lambs and the boys are in or near the rams and ewes. The milk cows got fresh straw yesterday and are happy to have it. We are so excited to see the grass starting to grow! We've been unrolling hay since mid-November, about 110 bales so far. It's great for our pastures, but we are ready to get the ruminants on fresh grass. Yesterday, we spent time reviewing ideas for upcoming YouTube videos and learned more about the entire process. Today we are going to Oklahoma to have lunch with family and pick up a load of pallets.
100. Today is the 100th blog post. The process has become part of my daily routine. Rarely do I sit down with no idea of where the conversation will go. I am able to prepare thoughts, sometimes days in advance, prior to sitting down to write. Like anything, I guess, the more you do it, the easier it gets. The highest viewed blog is: "Shipping Update" from 4 Jan with 163 views. The lowest viewed is: "Incubator Report" from 15 March with 30 views. The most/best interaction between us was on the discussion regarding culling animals. The funnest one for me to write was "HAIL Yeah" on 5 March discussing Hannah's new callsign, because it was accompanied by lots of memories (and a shot of Jeremiah Weed!). I've decided to continue the blog for at least a while longer and intend to write some about sugar, carbohydrates, cholesterol, and lies we've all been told. Let me know if there is something that piques your interest and I'll try to include it in a discussion.
Stop by our YouTube Channel and check out all we've been up to.
