Colonel’s Blog, Earthdate 26 July 2023…
Hey Y’all!
Good evening and happy Wednesday from Air2Ground Farms! It was hot but mostly overcast today with the same forecast for the next few days. The animals are all doing quite well with nothing significant to report (NSTR). I finished mowing the saplings on the top of the hill while Shelley made a trip to town to deliver pork, milk, and eggs. We also bought Walmart out of their Mason jars so we can continue to can our veggies. We didn’t make it to the tomatoes today, since we were out of jars, and now there are more to pick in the garden tomorrow. We’ll try to get it done. We are trying to get the outside stuff done in the early morning and late evening to stay out of the worst of the heat. The bottom two pics are the sheep enjoying their grass from the vantage of the top hill. The top pic is us in the Jeep for our evening rounds.
The side-by-side’s transmission literally fell apart Monday. It was so bad that we could hear things rattling around inside the plastic cover. Thus, we are in the Jeep for our milking rounds. Rebekah was using the 2-seater side-by-side to feed the pigs and dogs. We’re going to tear into the transmission with the knowledge that we can’t make it any worse since it is already in pieces. We will see if we can fix it with a gear or a linkage. If it requires an entire new transmission, at around $2,000, we may call it officially out of commission. We’ll just have to see. With it out of order, we are considering our options. We very much like having a 6-seater for the flexibility it gives us when people are visiting but don’t know how much $$ to fork out for that ability. We’re considering older Jeeps or pickups, new side-by-sides, or nothing at all. Until we get it figured out, we’ll have to do walking tours for more than 2 folks visiting!

Uh oh.....is that thing not Marine-proof??
You never should have let a Marine behind the wheel. They can break ball-bearings!
